Back in June I did the Eastern Divide Ultra Marathon. Its the first year for this 30mile race and my friend Kirby organized it. It was a great event that start at the cascades and finished at Mt. Lake, so a net gain of 2000ft. It was rough. I was undertrained as I hadn't run more than 16 miles in 6 weeks pervious but that just means I was fresh and not overtrained. The family came up for the finish and Lisa took these pics.
The kids hanging out at the last rest station waiting for me to come through.
And later waiting on the side of the trail with a mile or so to go.
Here I come up the road.
Not looking too good.
Amalia did get up to cheer for me but Camilo didn't...
until I ran past.
Coming into the finish.
It wasn't pretty at this point, thats for sure. It was a beautiful day for a run in the woods.
Trying to avoid cramps.
Now Camilo decided to run out to meet me at the finish line.
He didn't realize the finish line is a one-way kind of thing. Thats alright because no one else was around. I ended up second and there was at least 10min between me and first and me and third.
Camilo wanted to tackle me but I just grabbed him as I was afraid he would take me down.
Carrying Camilo through the finish line!
